In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “I Want to Know What Love Is.”
I am reminded of the scene in Rocky IV when Rocky goes off to Russia to fight Ivan Drago, the unbeatable, made of steel fighter. Rocky travels there without his wife, but after what we assume is days, or weeks she shows up and says, “I am with you, no matter what.” That is love.
The greatest definition of love the world has ever seen is in Jesus Christ. He holds no record of wrongs. People often believe He has a book and in this book is every single little thing we have ever done wrong, for example, “Josh, on December 17, 2001 you lied about being sick so you didn’t have to go into work, but you wanted to hang out with friends.” Even if a crime as bad as murder or cheating in other ways had been committed, my savior says, “you are forgiven, now turn from it and do it no more.”
So, you ask me, “what is the definition of love?” And my answer is, patience, forgiveness, kindness, hope, faith, endurance, read 1 Corinthians 13:7 to truly find out what Love truly is and then strive to be all those things. Do not beat yourself up, or anyone else for that matter, if they can’t achieve this. For no greater love has one than this, that he lay down his life for another. I leave you with this one final thought, remember the end of Rocky IV? Rocky says, “If I can change, and you can change, WE ALL CAN CHANGE!!!” We can start an entire world of love and togetherness like never before, but it must start with those of us who wish to see it.
