Pick Your Gadget
Your local electronics store has just started selling time machines, anywhere doors, and invisibility helmets. You can only afford one. Which of these do you buy, and why?
This is a really easy choice. I would end up buying all three, but the first choice, of course, would be the time machine. I would move forward in time to a place and time where I had gained enough wealth to acquire the other two. Although, I really wouldn’t have any use for an invisibility helmet. That just screams of illegal, or dishonest at the very least, activities. If you have to be invisible for it to happen, chances are you shouldn’t be doing it in the first place.
So, yes. I would purchase the time machine, tell the clerk I will be right back, move forward to a time when I have the cash flow and ask my future self for a loan, after all, I am me, I know I am good for it and if I am not, so what? It’s not like I am borrowing from someone else with no intent on paying my debt. Then, I would get back in my time machine, come back to the time and shop of the sale and buy an anywhere door.
Then again, a time machine really ALREADY IS AN ANYWHERE DOOR, so it has been negated as not useful and quite redundant!
I’d buy a time machine and go anywhere at any time I wanted.
