Today’s Daily Post Word is Storms or Storm. Everyone has been using it in its plural form, so so shall I.

I have read a lot of posts today about storms and they all say the same thing, storms are bad, storms hurt. I wish to offer a different viewpoint.

Storms come to us all. Storms bring moisture. Here in Minnesota during the winter we can have snowstorms. Cold, biting winds can come. Storms can take things off their foundations or crumble them to the ground. Yes, as everyone else has said, storms can be bad. Storms can decimate.

But what are we anchored to during the storms? Ah, this is where the philosophical question comes into play. I am not just talking about a house or a building or a crop anymore. I am talking about the human spirit.

Buildings can fall or be demolished by winds or even heavy snow. But the foundation, the bones often remain. Why? Because they were set and anchored to something strong.

What are you anchored to? What will see you through the loss of a spouse, loss of a job, loss of a home or any other physical thing we tie to this life? If we are not anchored properly these losses can break us to the core and devastate us. I know, I have been there. I have lost far more than I have gained, at least by this world’s standards. But for the last decade of my life I have been anchored to the promise of Jesus Christ.

He that followeth me will not walk in darkness but shall have the light of life.’ John 8:12

One day, we all will leave these broken, tired bodies behind. We are not anchored to them. We are anchored to our spirit. So many people see the events going on around the world today and all they see is the storm. It’s true, it’s a huge Earth-changing storm. But the dark side is in charge of this world. We began kicking God out of it a long time ago and the evil things we witness all over are that storm brewing. Jesus brings peace, because our Heavenly Father IS peace. We have created our own storm. So, in the midst of it, I ask you, ‘What are you anchored to? Will it hold?’ Your anchor will only hold if it is set to things of Heaven. Are you anchored to Jesus today?
