Sometimes it’s hard to get a mule to move. We have all seen pictures of someone pulling a rope with a mule attached to the other end. The mule digs his hooves into the ground and won’t budge.

People can be like that too. We dig in our heels and refuse to continue the journey. Who are we really hurting when we do that? I see a lot of stubbornness in today’s world. People saying that everyone else should be this way, or that. We are all stuck in our ways and refuse to see the other side of the discussion. It’s not an argument, it’s a discussion. First things first, let’s call it what it is, right?

Pointing fingers, placing blame, saying I didn’t get this or that because of him, or her, or anybody. As it was said in Rocky Balboa, ‘COWARDS DO THAT AND THAT AIN’T YOU!! YOU’RE BETTER THAN THAT!!’ And yet, so many of us do it. We believe our way is the only way and that’s all there is to it. We believe our version of the facts is the only one and that’s all there is to it. When will we realize all that does is create more bitterness and resentment? All it does is create more divisions that were not there, but now are because of our own disrespectful, stuck in our ways words.

How do we stop the blaming, the finger pointing, the ‘I’m not where I am supposed to be because of this guy, or that girl, or this group of people over here blah, blah, blah, wah, wah, wah!!!’ Stop dragging in your feet and standing your ground. Sit down, shut up and listen for a while. Listen, respond, that’s how communication works and it is not the mule way!
