Today’s Daily Post Word CHEATING has my mind going in a thousand different directions once again.
Cheating in a relationship
Cheating on a test
Cheating on taxes or some form of payment
It has been said ‘Cheaters never win, but winners never cheat.’ Looks like I have plenty of choices to talk about when talking about Cheating.
But, here’s one often not thought about, cheating our relationship with God. Many well-meaning people say they have a relationship with God, but their life shows no evidence of it. I admit, there have been times in my life when I have done this exact thing. ‘Yeah, sure, I am a Christian, I love Jesus.’ Loving Jesus is not enough. We need to be in relationship with Him. We need to grow in His characteristics. If we don’t, we are cheating the world out of knowing who He truly is.
One day, we will all stand before a Holy God. And He will ask us, ‘What did you do for others? What did you do with My Son?’ We can’t cheat that answer, my friends. God is omniscient and all around and within and through us. He is every fiber of the universe. There is no cheating that. We either allow His Holy Spirit to help change us, or we try to go through life on our own.
We can’t cheat death. One day it will come for every one of us. On that day, will God say to us, ‘Welcome Home!’ Or will He say, ‘Depart from me, I never knew you.’ There is only two ways that moment can go. There is no thousand directions about that. Jesus said, ‘I am the way, the truth and the life. No one gets to The Father, but by me.’ Can we all pass that test? Will some of us try to cheat to get there? Only time will tell.
Don’t cheat the rest of your life away from the blessings God has for you. The path is difficult and narrow, but with God as your guide, you need not cheat your way through life.
