Change.

The Sandbox Writing Challenge challenged me to write this piece. They ask, Have you ever tried to change someone in your life? How’d that work for ya? And they answered it as most of us would, it ended in utter failure the writer wrote.

This is where we need to flip our viewpoint. We need not go through life trying to change the ones we love. For example, I am a Christian. I know a lot of people who are not Christian. I know further more people who say they are Christian and there is no evidence of it in their life. I used to be one like that too!!

You want to know what I was doing wrong? I was doing what millions of Christians still do today. ‘Ya know, you shouldn’t live life that way. If you did it this way Christ would accept you, but now? No way!’ Sadly, that is the rhetoric that is used throughout the world today.

You want people to accept Christ? Then show them the change He has made in your life!!! BE THE CHANGE!!! There was even a wise man who said that once. You’ve got to BE the change you want to see in the world.

We cannot force anyone into anything, ever. It’s just not going to work. We can’t force people to stop fighting, how ironic is that?! Even more ironic, when we show love and understanding of a person’s pain, we can draw them into a relationship with Christ. It is not up to any one of us to be the change, which, I know goes against what I said earlier. Let me explain.

We want to be the change by showing the change, but it is not us who does the changing, it’s our Heavenly Father, God, who does that. Human beings can never, and will never, change another human being, ever. When people see the true love and grace and peace exemplified by Christ living in you, they will approach you and ask.

Me? I don’t have it down to 100% peace either. I have been a Christian for a decade now and it has been a battle. Parts of me want to stay the same old guy, but I can’t. Christ has begun a good work in me and He will see it through to completion. I am clay in The Master’s Hands now. Can I ever change someone else? No. but I hope to lead as many as I can to the one who can. God Bless us all and I love you all!! Are you willing to seek The Change?
