As The Sunsets.

As the sun sets on 2016 I ponder over the joys and triumphs of the past year. Many great things occurred in my life. Many joys and blessings. And as I ponder these things, I try really hard to think, ‘Was there any real tragedies of this year?’ Yes, it’s true, the world still is full of separation, anxiety, hunger, wars and divisions, and I truly wish to change that, but I cannot alone.

We need to become one positive collective of humanity. We need to put away our differences and give people a chance. Even when we disagree, we need to value their point of view. We need to give what we can, when and where we can.

How many more sunsets will we have before the sun sets on our time here on Earth and we are no longer able to make the difference we could have made, should have made while we were here. The sun will rise again, but one day our chances to help others will not. Make a difference today before the sun sets.

When Hope Meets Action.

As we enter 2017 a large portion of humanity awaits in hope. Hope for a better year. Hope for more prosperity, or better health. Hope that the world will gain peace. And that is where most of us stop. We hope for these things without putting actions that could lead to them into place.

Our actions must meet our words in 2017. If we do that, our hopes will become reality and a better world will be had by more than we have now. It is a long road for all to have it, but one mind moved into action will make a difference. Did this help move you into making positive actions come true in 2017? Let’s have a year of I.M.P.A.C.T.

Hope-filled 2017.

As I wrote these words parts of the world have entered next year. Here in Minnesota we are still more than 10 hours away.

Life and its journey’s amaze me. At the beginning of 2016 if you were to tell me I would be doing what I do now and the year of death would have had its hand in this year the way it has, I would have never believed you. I work for a sound engineering/D.J. company called D.J. Systems go ahead, google us. I am amazed at the blessings that have transpired just in the few short months since August for my bride and I simply because of this opportunity with this company.

We are also blessed because my bride’s father, as those of you who have followed my blog for a while know, has a few forms of cancer and is in the end stages of one of the worst causes of death I have ever witnessed, alzheimer’s. The creation of this disease is the worst form of torture I have ever witnessed and I have witnessed it personally in my father-in-law and his wife and my bride. It doesn’t only affect its carrier, it affects everyone that person loves and loses as more time passes. It can create violence as well as loss of memories of loved ones and lifelong events. It can create sadness as well as overwhelming joy. From what I have seen, it is torture. But, we had the opportunity to spend a few more days with my bride’s father, even though they were not all pleasant moments. So, we are blessed.

I want to encourage you all today as we enter a new year to look at things in a different way. Yes, there are some painful moments in life. That doesn’t mean they cannot be turned into a positive. Even cancer and alzheimer’s has brought me to meet new people and be a person of compassion and love for those who this disease affects every single day. Without my wife, I wouldn’t have that chance.

Two years ago I met the owner of D.J. Systems and, in passing, he mentioned he may be looking to hire someone to help. Now, in 2017 we are taking the company to new heights. Blessed!

I want 2017 to be the year of positive outlooks, even in the face of adversity. I live in The United States Of America. We have a nation that is being divided by so many things. Many see our incoming President as a man not fit for the job. He hasn’t done the job yet, so I honestly cannot say. He has said some concerning things, but actions speak louder than any words. I am remaining positive that God will have a hand in the outcomes of the year and I have faith it will all be for good, even if the world doesn’t see it as such.

My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus’ blood and righteousness. Through Hin we can do all things in 2017 and it can be a great year filled with hope and blessings.

Traveler’s Adventures.

My wife and I recently returned from a road trip to Lewistown, Montana to see her parents for Christmas. Wow! Absolutely beautiful country out that way! And once you get into Montana on Highway 200, if you like roller coasters, you’ll like that drive!

The landscape begins to change and become mountainous as you travel farther Westward. For the most part, the road is straight, but there are some curves and many hills. Truly fun!

Our time out there was far too short. I cherished every moment. You see, my bride’s father has cancer and is in the end stages of alzheimer’s. So, every moment is to be cherished. Especially since we are so far away. But, we enjoyed the time we had together. I was blessed with hot dice while out there as well and won most of the games of Farkle, or Zilch as my bride calls it.

On our last day in Lewistown I made a couple attempts to book us a hotel in Bismarck, North Dakota. That would put us a little more than half way home and we would drive the rest of the way the second day. As it turns out, being in a wheelchair and trying to book a wheelchair accessible room is not as easy as it should be. Once again, my bride pulled it off! She even got us an upgrade to a suite for $5 more!! Can’t pass up that deal!!

We stayed at Comfort Inn And Suites in Mandan, North Dakota. We were both highly impressed!! The bathroom alone was the size of our bedroom. The entire space could have fit our entire house!! Needless to say, we don’t live in a palace. It is enough space for us though. If you ever find yourself in Bismarck or Mandan, North Dakota, I highly recommend this hotel!! And get yourself some A and B Pizza while there. They have three locations that will deliver to the hotel!! Amazing pizza at an amazing price.

If you have the means to spend a little more expense on your food plans, I recommend Doolittle’s Cafe in Fargo!! Amazing food, but it is a little more on the upscale side. If you are looking for Perkins or Applebees prices, you won’t find them at Doolittle’s. But, it is highly worth it!! Both my wife and I shared an appetizer, each had our own entree, and shared a dessert for around $75!! Not bad with the quality, portions and service provided.

And the decor is amazing!! Covering all things history of flight!! It is a great place for a delightful family meal, or if you want to impress that important client. Doolittle’s in Fargo, just off I-94 has you covered.

I wish I could share every little detail of the week we had in Montana and all areas in between, but some things are only meant to be shared with those who were there. I hope you take the opportunity to travel and see this big, beautiful world and make your own memories that you can one day tell me all about. I am eager to hear your stories.

The Most Important Thing I have Ever Posted Right Here!!

Ok, let me start out with Jesus Loves You!! That is the most important thing I hope you take away from my blog. Secondly, you matter. Third, you have a purpose. So, in reality, this right here is actually number four. It is in the top five for a reason, it is so unbelievably important, but knowing Jesus and loving out your purpose is somewhat woven into this point.

We have a problem, and the above link describes it so matter of fact and to the point. It is over 14 minutes, but under 15 minutes long. So, I hope you will take the time not only to watch it, but please share it. We have a problem like never before in this generation. My question is, is this only a problem in American culture, or is this epidemic worldwide? Let’s have a conversation in the comments after you watch the link above. Click now and watch, then please, share this post so others can join in the conversation.

Each Day, A New Chance.

I admit it, I am far from perfect. However, I am not who, or where, I once was. Each day I have to renew my mind. Focusing on God and His plan has lead me to some awesome places and I often don’t see the impact coming until much later.

I have grown by leaps and bounds and had many new opportunities come my way that I would have once thought not possible. I have driven a tractor. I have worked for 4 months with a sound production company. I usually say D.J., but we are so much more than music. We don’t just flip from song to song, we give you your music, your party, your way. We don’t even have to have music. We have sound equipment if that is your need.

Anyway, I am off track here. My faith has been renewed this past year. God has shown me time and again that He has my best life in His Hands. It may not always go the way I expect, but it always turns out to be a great way to go. Take for example the year 2010.

The year prior I lost what I thought was going to be my career. I was an admissions counselor at my alma mater Brown College. April of 2009 I lost that career path. It took another whole year of odds jobs for me to admit defeat in the twin cities and I moved home.

I got a job at the local Walmart in Montevideo, Minnesota. It was never meant to be a career move. God had other plans. I final renewed my mind and I am totally happy with where my life is and where it is going now.

You want things to move forward in life, be willing to renew the journey from time to time.

Playing Nicely In The Sandbox!!

The Sandbox Writing Challenge this week asks us, what is the one thing you want most out of life?

If there was one thing I could have out of life it would be that all people of the world could play nicely in the sandbox. I have become a broken record on this, folks, and we still don’t get it!! We are here for one purpose- Relationships!! Relationships with one another and relationships with our creator’s Son, Jesus Christ. That’s it. If we don’t get that, we don’t get the purpose of life.

99.9% of the planet wants money, success, a life with no pain, the easy road, but that is not what life is about. We grow in pain. We fight through pain. The refiner’s fire burns out the impurities of our soul. Without it, we are not as pure as we could be. Take joy in the hard times of life. Focus and fight through them and you will grow.

What do I want most out of life? For an unbelieving world to believe in the amazing Grace of Jesus Christ. And when we have it, I want those who have it to share it with anyone they come in contact with. We have a world that says some people have this amazing grace and then they don’t give it to others, why? I want a world where those who truly know and believe in Jesus to actually, whole-heartedly live it out in every single second of their life. I am still a work in progress at this too, so let’s encourage one another and be loving as we can be. That will change the world.
