A Race Of Miles.

Image from a google search that led to http://www.greekgames.org

It all of a sudden occurred to me, I want to know where the word Marathon came from.

Marathon is a place. In Greek history it is 26.2 miles away from Athens. Pheidippides ran this distance to tell of the Greek army’s win over The Persian army. Amazing how history’s details bring a new light to terms we have used for centuries. Are there any words of which you are curious to know the origins? Let me know in the comments.
