I have been contemplating today’s Daily Post Word Bury all day. The only image that keeps coming to mind is the empty tomb. Two soldier’s guarded that tomb with their life. Literally, their life. If the tomb was robbed, or empty, they had to answer for it and it could cost them their life.
The funny part is, we never hear about that in the Bible, do we? What happened to the soldiers? Were they questioned and prosecuted? Where they told to flee and never return? Were they killed for allowing the tomb to be empty? We just never hear what happened.
And we still do this today. We bury our unknown things in our life that we don’t want anyone to know. Embarrassment, or public ridicule may follow, if they only knew! Right? So, we hide. We bury those things that we don’t want to share or talk about. But that’s not good!
1 John 1:8-9 keeps popping up this week. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. But, if we confess our sins, God who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.’ If they only knew does not work with God. He knows.
What are you hiding today? Don’t bury it away in hopes it will disappear. It may be resurrected and come back someday, just like Jesus will.
