English Is Funny!!

Amble- to walk at a leisurely pace.

Now, with this definition, it should stand to reason (which, let’s be honest, do we really have reason anywhere anymore other than, ‘because I can!!’) it should stand to reason that the word Preamble would mean before walking or moving leisurely, or at a slow pace. Correct? NOPE!!!

English had to go and make things difficult again!! Preamble is an opening statement. An introduction. There is no moving or leisurely walking involved with a preamble, it’s speaking.

The English language seriously makes me wonder sometimes if there are any rules at all.
