So, I rented two films from redbox yesterday, Murder On The Orient Express And Downsizing.
Downsizing I thought would be cute, I wasn’t looking for anything deep from this film and it did not disappoint in that regard. Earlier in the day I had watched The Martian and I was on a Matt Damon kick, I guess. He is a good actor and yes, he did do well in Downsizing. However, the plot left quite a bit short, imagine that!
Matt Damon and his wife decide to live a simpler life and get shrunk down to 11 centimeters tall, I don’t remember the exact ratio they stated in the film, but they promised becoming smaller and moving to their own little plot of land deep within the main Earth was cheaper and easier.
As they begin the process Matt Damon’s wife decides she doesn’t want to do it and his character only finds out after the shrinking process is done. Oops! Well, that brought about divorce. So, Matt Damon moves on.
Daily life, a plot to end the world because we big people are sucking resources etc etc. all in all, it was mildly entertaining, but I wouldn’t watch it again. Thankfully it was only a dollar-fifty out of the Redbox.
murder On The Orient Express on the other hand is larger than life and full of plot twists in this “who dun it?”. If you can figure it out before the end, you are a much better person than I. The end of this film came and I was alone and literally said, “Woah! I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING!!!”
This film, with its star studded cast, I would recommend and would see again. Murder, intrigue, passion, suspense, and some really great scenery from what looks to be Montana, but ’tis not. And Johnny Depp has a role in it, just like I suspected from the previews I had seen. Although, it isn’t a major one, he plays it well.
