It Can’t Be!!

I heard the news just an hour ago, The Great Paul O’Neill has passed away. I guess he was battling some illness. He was 61, far too young to pass away, right? But, his legend lives on.

I remember my first TSO show. At The Historic State Theater. Of course, Trans Siberian Orchestra always does meet and greets with any fan that wishes to meet them afterward. They will stay until every single fan has been greeted. And yes, even Paul O’Neill.

I will never forget the first time I met him. The entire group was lined along a great table. My best friend and I had just seen Beethoven’s Last Night. Paul O’Neill and I struck up a conversation with the narrator of the show. I mentioned how I wanted his job, and Mr. O’Neill jokingly said, ‘Well, Maybe someday, but he is doing really well for us right now.’

I still cannot believe the founder of TSO is gone at 61. Thank God we still have Dick Dale, even though I don’t believe he is touring anymore.

Rest In Peace, Mr. O’Neill.

Learning On Faith

Learning On Faith

I am not who I once was. I am not even the same person I was when I began writing this sentence. With every word I write on this page, I become someone new. New thoughts emerge. New ideas blossom into keystrokes on the keyboard. They, in turn, move into words, and thoughts, and phrases.

It has been said that every day we are learning. I believe that is true, but I wish to break it down further. Every moment we change. Every moment we grown and we learn. As you read these words new thoughts are emerging from you. Because of this one blog post you are now a changed person with more knowledge. You have learned my thoughts, if nothing else.

Every moment is new from the one before. Every moment we grow older and often times we learn from our experiences. But will we ever experience the exact same experience twice? No. Time and learning marches on. Even if we experience the same situation a thousand times we are still different every time it occurs.

Life is a series of infinite learning experiences. Although, in the grand scheme of Eternity, they indeed are not infinite. One day, we will have all the answers to our questions. Until then, we will keep on learning on faith.

Lost Again.

Lost Again.

Today’s Daily Prompt Word is Ghost and once again, I am lost on how to write about this word. I used to have a huge draw towards ghosts and the paranormal. I still enjoy things that are unexplained, but for me, ghosts are explained.

In my honest, not highly educated on the subject, opinion, ghosts are demonic presences (Stacy, is presences a word?). God created this world and Satan really wants control of it. When a person says they have seen a ghost, for me, 99.9% of the time I can honestly say I believe it to be a demonic presence that is manifesting in the known world.

Our world is full of things we know. Our world is full of the things we don’t know. And when we are truly honest with ourselves, we must admit there are things in this world, in our daily lives, that we don’t even know that we don’t know. Spirituality and how things really occur in God’s eyes is in this area. We believe in what we don’t see and we call it faith.

We try to explain things so we can understand, but the truth is, we will never full understand every single morsel of everything this universe (or multiverse if you prescribe to that camp) has to offer. Ever. Only The creator can know all that and He chooses what to allow our human brains to conceive.

All of the scientific and spiritual breakthroughs of the past few centuries were no mistake. And they were not out of God’s thoughts. There are things we currently know. There are things we currently don’t know. And, like I said, there are things we don’t know that we don’t know.

I have changed a lot in my Christian Journey and if I am honest, I am not fully there yet. I still fail daily. Until I am so wrapped up in a relationship with Jesus Christ that nothing else matters except what He will have me do in this world, I am still learning. But, one thing I can tell you that He has taught me, ghosts are nothing more than demons Satan brings to entice us into a lower world where everything looks fun, sometimes scary, but we are enticed nonetheless. When we see something we really want to look into, we must ask ourselves, ‘Is this really something God wants for me? Or will it make me a ghost of my former better self?’ Satans demise will often be wrapped up in our greatest wants and desires and it is nothing more than a ghostly trap set to enslave us. Be careful of the ghosts in life, my friends. They can often trap you in a Devil’s Grasp.

The Last Supper

Feast or Famine

Have or Have Not

Live or Die

Day or Night

Black or White

Why must we ALWAYS live our lives in one of two extremes? It makes no sense! God has provided enough for all. God gave all in His Only Son, Jesus Christ.

How about a new comparison?

Greed or Grace. You either take more than you need or you give what you don’t truly need so others can have some. What’s wrong with that ideal?

Jesus lived, died and rose again so we all can join in the feast. Are you willing to come to the table?

Sometimes We Smile.

Sometimes We Smile.

Sometimes the devil whispers in our ear, but we smile anyway.

Sometimes the devil tries to convince us we are not good enough, but we try anyway.

Sometimes the devil whispers to give up and give in, but we fight through anyway.

Sometimes the devil convinces us we are frail and weak, but we fight through our weakness because Jesus is stronger.

When we are weak, Jesus is strong.

When we are unsure, Jesus gives us peace.

When we are at war with others, Jesus whispers turn the other cheek.

When we have been wounded and are frail and weary, Jesus gives us strength.

Seek ye first the kingdom, and even though this life brings pain and frailties and weakness, we can be made strong.

A shepherd slew a giant.

12 fishermen spread the gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide.

A deaf composer composed some of the greatest music we have ever known.

Do not fear frailty! Embrace it and see how The Lord uses you to bless others.

There Is Only One.

There Is Only One.

I am not perfect. You are not perfect. God is perfect. In The Bible He teaches us about who He is. But, we still didn’t get it. A lot of people still don’t get it.

The epitome of God, the ONLY epitome of God can be found in Jesus Christ. Now, the world will tell you, ‘He was a good man. He did many great things and helped a great many people. But He’s dead now.’ Or my personal favorite that has risen up in recent centuries (pun intended!!) ‘He never existed!! There is no proof He was ever here.’ LOL!!! History (and not just The Bible) tells us He existed, so let’s take that one off the table.

Jesus Christ was the Earthly epitome of God. No sin. No bad deeds, except in the eyes of men. He stuck around those who the rest of the world cast out. And more than that, He forgave them.

We need more of that epitome of God in this world. The world will have you believe God is all fire and brimstone, judgements and condemnation. Nothing could be further from the truth, who Jesus said He is, by the way. The Way, The Truth and The Life (John 14:6) check it out.

Jesus came to forgive. He was God’s answer to the bad that we humans have done. And still so many people don’t believe that. Why?

Because we now have a world of Christians who are anything but the epitome of Jesus Christ. As a Christians we are to become more and more Like Christ as we grow in relationship to Him. Even in myself, this has its times when Satan whispers and I fall short. Most recently it was when I didn’t give forgiveness to a local person condemned of a crime. He was found guilty and I didn’t offer forgiveness on a social website. Not very Christlike, right?

There are times when humans will join the side and thoughts of the world. As I said earlier, we are human, we are not Jesus Christ Himself. There will only be ONE who will EVER totally embody the epitome of God, and that is His Only Son, Jesus Christ. We can follow Him as much as we can, but we will still always be human and have the ability to sin. Jesus Christ will say to those who believe in Him and what He did on the cross, ‘I am the one. You are forgiven.’ And with that it is finished.

Food For Thought.

Food For Thought.

When I think of today’s Daily Post Word Of The Day, Fork, my thoughts veer off in two directions. Just like a fork in a road, I think of the journey and all the forks that can rise up to meet us, and I think of the untensil used to eat foods.

Both of these forks can be nourishing in different ways when used properly. A fork in the road of life can give us new direction. As Led Zepplin said, “There’s still time to change the road you’re on.” Over the past five years I have often wondered if I am on the right road. Walmart was never meant to become a career for me, yet here I am five and a half years later and every opportunity I have tried to capture has died.

As my dad says, ‘Grow where you are planted.’ He also says, ‘Growth happens in the valleys.’ So if you feel you have taken the wrong fork, or are trying to come to a new fork, stay the course. God has a way of working out blessings no matter what forks we take.

For example, if I had left WALMART and opted for a different career, I probably would not have stayed in the small town we are in. I say ‘we’ because now for the rest of my life I am a we. My wife and I are on one journey together, no matter what forks come up. And without staying at Walmart that wouldn’t have happened. She was a very pleasant surprise on this fork in the road.

The other fork I wish to talk about today is the fork of nourishment. Forks feed us. They bring fruits and meats to our mouths. I wouldn’t recommend soup with a fork though. I also wouldn’t recommend any soup that isn’t home-made. We need to retrain our brains and our forks to eat like the majority of the world still does- Healthy!!

Somewhere over the past 40-50 years America has entered the fast food nation. We like everything on the go. We have put down our forks for hand-held, preservative rich hamburgers and fries– Finger Foods.

I was made aware of my own fork habits this past few days. I have an ongoing battle with cellulitis and I can’t help but wonder if my own eating habits are mostly to blame. The doctor told me during my hospital stay that cellulitis is like asthma or pneumonia, once you get it, it is in there and will continue to flare up whenever it wants. Bah!! Talk about an unexpected fork in the road, possibly due to my own fork habits!!

So, cleansing it is. Fruits. Vegetables. Fresh, lean meats. I admit, this morning I did sneak a Dr. Pepper and some peanut m & m’s, but hey, I’m only human, right? I am going to do everything I can to hold to it now. That’s why I confessed it here. Now, the whole world can hold me accountable to my fork actions.

One final story I wish to share with you all about forks. The year was sometime around 1988, maybe it was 1987. I was 11 or 12 years old and our family was around the dinner table. If memory serves, which it often doesn’t these days, my parents were talking about taking my younger brother to one of our local small towns for ice cream, or to run an errand. I remember that I was not going to be included in this trip, so with as much gusto as I could muster, I said, ‘This is where I put the fork down!!’ because I wanted to go too! Sadly, now at 234 pounds I have picked that fork back up too many times!!

Well, here we are at another fork in the road. I am a blogger. The entire world has access to my words. As one world, all nations, under God, will you all join me and say, ‘This is where we put the unhealthy food and forks down!!’ My friends, we were created to be so much more than we have become. But we will only see our true potential when we first seek Him who gave us that potential. He and He alone will rise us to potentials we have never dreamed of if only we seek Him first.

Seek Ye first the Kingdom Of God, and His righteousness. And all these things shall be added unto you.’

Matthew 6:33

He wants to add blessings and years into us, not pounds. And when we seek Him, He will make every fork that comes up in our journey and on our plates a blessing.
