Lost Again.

Today’s Daily Prompt Word is Ghost and once again, I am lost on how to write about this word. I used to have a huge draw towards ghosts and the paranormal. I still enjoy things that are unexplained, but for me, ghosts are explained.

In my honest, not highly educated on the subject, opinion, ghosts are demonic presences (Stacy, is presences a word?). God created this world and Satan really wants control of it. When a person says they have seen a ghost, for me, 99.9% of the time I can honestly say I believe it to be a demonic presence that is manifesting in the known world.

Our world is full of things we know. Our world is full of the things we don’t know. And when we are truly honest with ourselves, we must admit there are things in this world, in our daily lives, that we don’t even know that we don’t know. Spirituality and how things really occur in God’s eyes is in this area. We believe in what we don’t see and we call it faith.

We try to explain things so we can understand, but the truth is, we will never full understand every single morsel of everything this universe (or multiverse if you prescribe to that camp) has to offer. Ever. Only The creator can know all that and He chooses what to allow our human brains to conceive.

All of the scientific and spiritual breakthroughs of the past few centuries were no mistake. And they were not out of God’s thoughts. There are things we currently know. There are things we currently don’t know. And, like I said, there are things we don’t know that we don’t know.

I have changed a lot in my Christian Journey and if I am honest, I am not fully there yet. I still fail daily. Until I am so wrapped up in a relationship with Jesus Christ that nothing else matters except what He will have me do in this world, I am still learning. But, one thing I can tell you that He has taught me, ghosts are nothing more than demons Satan brings to entice us into a lower world where everything looks fun, sometimes scary, but we are enticed nonetheless. When we see something we really want to look into, we must ask ourselves, ‘Is this really something God wants for me? Or will it make me a ghost of my former better self?’ Satans demise will often be wrapped up in our greatest wants and desires and it is nothing more than a ghostly trap set to enslave us. Be careful of the ghosts in life, my friends. They can often trap you in a Devil’s Grasp.

Cotton candy

Cracker Jack

Ring master

When I think of the circus I think of these things. It’s a lot like life, isn’t it? Some things are good and some are bad. Some we are meant to stay away from, and still others bring us in and we are locked. A circus is like that. Good and bad. But life isn’t meant to be lived as a circus.

You are not under the control of one ring master coordinating a show for laughter and amusement.

You have choices to break the chains and be free to not have to do tricks for others. You are free to enjoy life like the innocent child who sees twirlers and acrobats and animals that have a soul, be free!!

A circus is a cage of illusions. Your life is not a circus but a wonderful thing full of unknown joys. Find that, like a child at the circus.

Don’t Fear The Reaper.

Don’t Fear The Reaper.

Write whatever you normally write about, and weave in a book quote, film quote, or song lyric that’s been sticking with you this week.

How would your life be different if you were incapable of feeling fear? Would your life be better or worse than it is now?

I am going to attempt both of these prompts in one post!! I have had the notion of ‘We reap what we sow’ in my head this week. Fear only creates more fear, and anger, and hate. We here in The United States are bombarded with fear every single day, and I for one, am sick and tired of this rhetoric!!

Fear religion, fear people, fear guns, fear food, fear weather, fear driving!! And those have only come up in the past four days!!! SHUT UP!!! When did we lose sight of FDR’s famous words ‘We have nothing to fear, but fear itself!’

If we knew we had no fear what would we do? Anything! Fear cripples us. I am already disabled and in a wheelchair. I don’t need anything else to immobilize me. Fear has no place in my vocabulary, and yet, I suffer every single day with anxiety. God does not ever give us a spirit of fear, Satan does that. In a world where whispers can be louder than shouts we still should have nothing to fear. Satan breeds fear with his whispers in our ear and that creates a world of pain.

Earlier this week I watched a YouTube video about the universe and the vibrations within it. Everything has a frequency vibration. Rocks, trees, animals, humans, water, molecules, buildings, everything has a vibration! We are all shaking, we are all moving! The world will tell us we are trembling with fear. Do not believe this lie!

Whatever vibrations we put out we will receive in return. What we plant, we shall harvest. I have seen a few people who have been asking the question, ‘why me? Why does this always happen to me?’ What are you planting? Are you planting negative images in your mind? If that’s what you see, that is what you will get!

U2 once wrote a song, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. We live in a world that is constantly seeking peace, love, acceptance, forgiveness. And there are those who say it can be found in Jesus Christ. And then they turn around and condemn the ones who need these things. If we don’t fully turn to The Cross of redemption and grace we never will find what we are looking for. We will never find it in humanity that only seeks for itself preservation. There is no fear or condemnation in Christ Jesus. You want to know how all of our lives would be different without fear? Seek Him. Seek The Prince Of Peace and you shall have no fear.

Perfect Strangers

Perfect Strangers

Unexpected GuestsYou walk into your home to find a couple you don’t know sitting in your living room, eating a slice of cake. Tell us what happens next.

As often happens, I arrive home before my wife. My disability requires that I don’t work extra long hours, so I often have much more time at home than my wife. As I enter the house, from a short shift at my job and running a few errands around town, I roll through our front door to see a man and a woman sitting calmly, feet planted firmly on the carpet, their shoes places nearly by the door in front of my niece’s kitchenette. Both of them have their hands placed gently on their knees hands facing down, all fingers visible as if to say, ‘we come in peace’. They are both dressed nicely, like a ‘Men In Black’ style, but something seems more ‘Matrix’ to me about this scene. I really hope they don’t erase more of my mind than time already has, but I am ready to follow the white rabbit down the rabbit hole.

‘Holy Canoli!!!!’ I exclaim as their presence surprises me. ‘Who are you and what do you want? And where did you get chocolate cake???!!’ I shout in a concerned and upset tone. ‘We needed time away from our kids and you and your bride are awesome people! We brought the cake from Walmart. Their bakery lady makes awesome cake! You know, the lady with the fiery red hair?’

‘Well, I hate to disappoint you both,’ I say, ‘but, my wife doesn’t even get off work for a few more hours and we are between grocery trips right now, so I can offer you soup, eggs, milk, bread, or an Icee Pop, or water. We were not expecting guests at 2pm in the afternoon, and usually, most couples leave their KIDS with us! Where are the kids?’ I ask.

‘We left them at home.’ The man says. The woman still has yet to say a word. ‘So, you needed to get away from the kids, abandoned them in your own home, and just randomly chose THIS HOUSE to crash in???!!’ I am getting kind of upset at this time and I lose my temper, ‘HOW IN GODS GREEN EARTH DID YOU GET INTO MY HOUSE????!!!’ All I get for a response is, ‘we have our ways.’ Very secretive couple here and I still have no clue who they really are!!

The woman finally speaks, ‘Rolling Blogger, we haven’t been at all honest with you.’ She continues, ‘we don’t have any children and we are not here to get away from them. We love all children and see them as gifts from God. We cherish them. All future children depend upon you! No, the reason we are here is the writing. Your writing!’

‘My writing?’ I ask, concern growing in my voice again as we live in a time of censorship and stealing of ideas. ‘It’s MY writing! Not yours! What do you want with my writing?’ She is obviously the diplomatic one in this couple, she gently touches my hands and looks into my eyes and softly says, ‘your writing on Rolling Blogger has begun to change the world in ways you will not fully understand for quite some time. Shakespeare, Hemingway, Thoreau, Faulkner, George Orwell and so many more we haven’t time to mention– amateurs compared to your gift!’

I find it interesting that she stopped with Orwell and used his first AND LAST name!! Why had she done that? This was truly like a scene out of 1984, Big Brother has been watching!! ‘Ok. You have stroked my ego and built me up enough! I am no writer compared to these great story-tellers, poets and wooers of women! What do you want?’

The man chimes in again, they obviously have their roles down in this conversation as if they know how it will play out, ‘We are from fifteen years in the future and we have seen what you become! And it all begins with your book, My Role Within My Roll.’ I interupt the man, ‘How did you know about that?! I am nowhere near done! I haven’t even thought of that book in over a year since I started Rolling Blogger and my writing has been noticed all over the world!’ ‘We know,’ says the man. ‘that’s why we are here. We want to buy Rolling Blogger from you. You will still have creative mastery over the blog, but we have a team in place that will write for it. You will still receive any and all payments and royalties from its success, but WE NEED THAT BOOK!! Society is dependent upon its completion and soon! You will be handsomely compensated for your time.’

I accept a check for $500,000 and turn over the writing of Rolling Blogger to this team from the future. The date was December 15, 2015. Within 8 months of their visit I complete the manuscript and turn it into a publisher that has been on board since the visit of the couple. It is published in late 2016 and rises to unbelievable popularity. I am handed the reigns of Rolling Blogger once again and I can now call myself a well accomplished world renouned writer!!! And this is how it all began, a simple visit from two strangers.

I am a night owl, an insomniac. I admit, my wife caught me earlier tonight catching a nap in the living room of our home. And now, I am awake and she has gone to sleep in our room.

We are fans of Essential Oils and we have found that Lavendar helped me fall asleep for a while, but then my old habits kicked in again. I stay awake for at least a couple hours after my bride has drifted off to dreamland where I hope she finds peace and happiness. Me? I am awake blogging my thoughts with the air purifier whirring gently in the living room.

Tonight on my mind is gentle lullabies. I have a few ways of staying awake, but to fall asleep, nothing beats soothing music. These are some of my favorites–

The Past Meets The Future, Only Now.

The Past Meets The Future, Only Now.

My wife came up with an idea for one of the daily post prompts. Imagine if two characters, from two different worlds were to meet each other. What would happen next?

Well, let’s take that a step further. What if two characters from two different times were to meet in our world as it is today? What would happen if The Flintstones meet The Jetsons in 2015?

I am sure the Flintstones would be wondering how we ended up with cars you need not move with your feet, or brake with your feet. On the flip side, The Jetsons would be wondering why we don’t have flying cars that fold into a briefcase that we can keep on our desk at work. The good news is, we are working on it Jetsons.

In the world of fashion, I am sure The Flintstones will be happy to see we are not wearing animal skins that can be itchy and uncomfortable. And I am sure The Jetsons would be disappointed that we have yet to invent a closet that dresses us.

The key lesson in this is we cannot live in the past and we cannot fast forward to the future. All we have is right now. Maybe there will come a day when worlds can collide, but it is not now. I hope we can all make the best of today, because the past is gone and the future is not promised.

Big Fish.

Big Fish.

This afternoon I watched an episode of Cupcake Wars on Netflix and the episode inspired this post. The cupcake makers were asked to make cupcakes inspired by Tim Burton films.

Beetlejuice, James And The Giant Peach, Alice In Wonderland and Edward Scissorhands were all represented during the competition. Where was Big Fish? This is a film by Tim Burton in 2003 that I was dragged to, but mesmerized by within seconds of it beginning on film! It is one of my favorite films of all time and I believe it to be highly underrated by everyone in the world.

The film tells the story of a man who is at the end of his life. He and his son have never seen eye to eye on anything because the father always seems to tell these big, extravagant tales. The entire film is the telling of the father’s adventures from his larger than life point of view.

There have been many times in my life that I have felt like a big fish in a small pond. There have been many times in my life I have felt over my head and drowning in my life, so I really feel as though I identified with this film. I also have a propensity to make things seem larger than life, or blown out of proportion, so that is another thing that I and Edward Bloom have in common.

This film only won one Academy Award and I find that that really identifies with the film as well. It is a larger than life film, as most Tim Burton films are. But, it has that one character (the son) who doesn’t think his father is really larger than life– until the end. I found this film to be awesomely created and, just as the son received a new appreciation for his father, I found a new appreciation for Tim Burton that hasn’t waned. The moral of this is no matter how big something seems give it a chance. Are you going up against insurmountable odds? Become the big fish and swim against the current.
