Be Like Water, My Friends.

Be Like Water, My Friends.

Bruce Lee once was quoted during an interview talking about how water becomes the shape of its surroundings. It is smooth, and refreshing.

But, I want to caution you against too much of a good thing. Even water, though it be smooth and cool, flowing like a river over time, it can erode even the harshest of rocks. It can turn the sands of time into dust.

Be like water, my friends, but be careful to not erode the beauty and strong structures placed in your life for protection.

3 Days Of Quotes.

3 Days Of Quotes.

I was recently nominated by specscladeyes to do a 3 days of quotes. I am also supposed to nominate 3 other bloggers to do the same. However, I don’t know of 3 other bloggers who would definitely follow through with this task, so if you wish to join in the fun, please do so. I nominate all who may read this.

We all have our own opinions and it is very rare to find two individuals who agree whole-heartedly on every option of every opinion ever formed by either of them.

You are an original, just like everyone else. That is another quote I find amusing. And they go hand in hand. In my opinion, any way.

We are all originals and no two people will ever look at anything from the exact same viewpoint ever. In order for that to happen two individuals of exactly the same height would have to stand in exactly the same spot in exactly the same position. Physics is trying to work this out through quantum physics, and yes, some particles have been found to do these traits, but humans cannot.

We are each individuals with our own experiences and it is very rare that we believe we are wrong. Enter arguments. Enter reasons for battle. And mostly, enter the male ego! I am a male, so I can say that. You may have a different opinion, and you are wrong! HA!

But seriously, one of the most funny men of comedy said this once and I found it deeply profound, true and most of all, funny. Laugh a little, my friends. Put down the opinions and shake hands, or hug, or just say good job, it’s more hygienic these days. But love each other. We all have opinions and we are never going to agree whole-heartedly on anything in this world until it is proven as fact, like gravity. Drop something from a tall building, it will always fall. We can all be right someday when the world joins together as one humanity. And that will be a glorious day we all agree.

The Power Of Prayer.

The Power Of Prayer.

Tell us about a book you can read again and again without getting bored — what is it that speaks to you?

If you have paid any attention to my blog you already know how important my relationship with Jesus Christ and His life lessons and principals is. He taught us how we communicate directly with God through prayer and one of the best books I have ever read and have now read through twice and I am reading a third time is The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson.

We are surrounded by walls in this life. Walls meant to keep us out. Walls meant to test our resolve to tear them down. And even invisible walls that don’t even exist that we create within our own minds. The human life is full of real and imaginary barriers. This book talks about how to tear them down through prayer.

I would recommend this book to anyone. If you want to strengthen your already existing prayer life, this book is for you. If you don’t believe in the absolute paranormal power of prayer, this book is for you. If you have tried prayer and don’t believe because you haven’t received the answers to prayer you thought you should, this book is for you! Everyone who believes or doesn’t believe needs to read this book! There is power in prayer and this book gives true testimony to its power and real life applications.

Aside from my Bible and daily devotional book, The Circle Maker is a book I can read over and over to help renew my faith in the power of God and constant communication with Him. I would recommend picking up a copy anywhere you can.

More Inspiration!!!

More Inspiration!!!

I need to write more today, but what??! Where can I get inspiration? A friend who’s writing I quite enjoy, spiritual dragonfly, is doing this writing program a lot like The Daily Post, it’s called The Sandbox Writing Challenge. Seriously, go check out Spiritualdragonfly and then go check out The Sandbox Writing Challenge.

I looked through the first assignment post and it is an assignment to help you get to know yourself better, what are your seven favorite colors, questions like that. I will be going back to find even more inspiration so my inspiration can flow through to each of you.

As I was reading through it I began to think of one of my favorite literary films of all time, Dead Poets Society. My favorite scene has to do with the inspiration of a photo of Walt Whitman. Todd Anderson seems lost throughout the film and unsure of what path he should take. Apparently at the end he takes advice from Robert Frost and takes the path least travelled by.

Anyway, I got to thinking about that film and that scene and I realized there is a great many people aching with desires to come out of each and every one of us! Sure, I am a blogger, but I am a blogger who has a no quit, full force ahead, and take Jesus with you attitude!

You may be a blogger who takes photographs, or writes poetry, or a blogger with a business mind. Be whomever you are and don’t be afraid to reach down and search for it! Follow the example of this scene from A Dead Poets Society-

And never forget the words of Walt Whitman-

I sound my barbaric YAWP over the rooftops of the world.

This Is Your Invitation.

This Is Your Invitation.

Our days are organized around numerous small actions we repeat over and over. What’s your favorite daily ritual?

Every morning, or afternoon, I get up. Some days I will stay planted in bed with a good book. Some days the first seen action I will do is check my Facebook and blog. That is what I did this morning when I arose to the sound of our 120 pound Chocolate Lab/Rottweiler dog eating a package. At first I thought it was trash that hadn’t been brought out to the curb yet. Nope! It was the dog food of our little two pound guest, Luna. She’s a teacup chihuahua and with her around I really need to be careful of where I roll and where I transfer my weight to on the couch or in bed. I could squish her like a worm!! And that would devastate one of my sister’s as it is her dog.

Back to my daily routine. I really don’t have one, or I used to not have one I should say. Every morning before my butt hits the seat of my chair, every single morning, I read a daily devotional called Jesus Calling by Sarah Young. What an excellent way to begin the day!! A day begun in the presence of The Lord will never go wrong because our spirit will be focused where it should be at all times.

See, this life is not really about us and so many people make it about them right out of the gate every morning. Stop!! Look around you and get in touch with The One who sees it all. Let Him direct your paths from the moment you arise in the morning and you will not go wrong!! These are His Words coming through, not mine.

The Bible says, ‘Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God.’ So that is the morning routine I look forward to most. By seeking Him first I can move forward and write a blog post that will inspire thousands. I can share the love of Jesus on Facebook because I took the time, first thing, to spend ten, twenty, thirty, some days an hour with My Heavenly Father. Jesus is my morning routine I cannot live without.  And I invite you to get to know Him too. All it takes is calling out to Him. Jesus, help me know you today. In all ways help me to see You for who You really are. It may not happen right away, but through a daily routine with God you will see a change.

From My Corner To Yours.

From My Corner To Yours.

Your life without a computer: what does it look like?

We live in a media-saturated world. These days you’d be hard pressed to find anyone under the age of 20 who isn’t strapped into a cell phone, or iPod, iPad or MP3 player. Verbal communication has given way to text-only. Hardly anyone ever speaks on the phone any longer because now it is a computer. I am guilty as charged, your honor. It wasn’t always this way. The definition of progress has meant a chasm of growth in separation.

I am part of the odd generation. We remember a time when all we had was Oregon Trail on our Apple IIe during computer class in the early-80’s. We were in school, and most of us even graduated high school, or God-forbid college, without the internet!! Say it ain’t so!!! It’s true young ones. The Internet didn’t really rage on to the scene until the mid-90’s!!

My life without a computer, in its simplest terms, looks a lot like my childhood and how I wish I could live my life now. If you ask my wife she will say I am flat out lying, but even husbands have these secret places of desires of living out in the wilderness they never tell their wives about. It is engrained in our nature. Well, it was. Now we have a generation of entitled people who want everything handed to them.

Life without computers for them? Ha!! They wouldn’t have a clue how to research a library, possibly keep a checkbook and again, God-forbid, one day will not know how to go to a store and pick out an item they see on the shelf. They won’t know how to write. They won’t know how to communicate without a keyboard or a screen. Progress???!!! Ha! Not to me!!

Lately I have been on a serious kick, I mean almost an obsession, with survivalist shows. Man vs. Wild, Dual Survival, Survival School, life in Alaska I have watched all these shows over the past few months! It’s almost like God is preparing me to live that way, even as a disabled male. A fellow blogger friend said don’t count us disabled people out just because we are disabled. We can even do the hard stuff.

I feel a pull within my soul to go hardcore!! And that may even mean writing journals by hand. That’s how they used to do it. Lewis And Clark, (you young kids reading this can Google them in a minute), they WALKED shore to shore of the oceans here in America over 200 years ago!! And other countries? They have histories even richer and broader than that! I am talking thousands of years!!! And in today’s world, we sit on our phones (if we can still call them that) and we have the entire internet in the palm of our hand.

You want to know the greatest thing in the universe? He holds this entire universe in the palm of His hand!! He is God. He sent His Only Son, Jesus Christ, to Earth for all of us! He sent the ideas for technology to human beings to create. Imagine a world where one of them said, ‘Nope! I will not create this technology! We will not advance!’ We would all still be writing by hand waiting weeks to receive a letter from family. We would all be so distant from one another. Technology has brought us closer than ever before and we have allowed it to tear us apart.

I have so many things that I wish to share with the world. I want to document when I first make a fire without the use of a match or lighter. I want to live off the land and share it with the world. I want to experience a life where my computer/phone is not accessed. But I also want the technology available to come back and write to all of you from the viewpoint of a disabled male born with Spina Bifida and say, ‘I did it, so there is no reason you can’t!’ Get out and live life, but share it! Life without computers? Sure. I could do it. But I also like being able to reach the world from my own little corner of it.

Don’t Fear The Reaper.

Don’t Fear The Reaper.

Write whatever you normally write about, and weave in a book quote, film quote, or song lyric that’s been sticking with you this week.

How would your life be different if you were incapable of feeling fear? Would your life be better or worse than it is now?

I am going to attempt both of these prompts in one post!! I have had the notion of ‘We reap what we sow’ in my head this week. Fear only creates more fear, and anger, and hate. We here in The United States are bombarded with fear every single day, and I for one, am sick and tired of this rhetoric!!

Fear religion, fear people, fear guns, fear food, fear weather, fear driving!! And those have only come up in the past four days!!! SHUT UP!!! When did we lose sight of FDR’s famous words ‘We have nothing to fear, but fear itself!’

If we knew we had no fear what would we do? Anything! Fear cripples us. I am already disabled and in a wheelchair. I don’t need anything else to immobilize me. Fear has no place in my vocabulary, and yet, I suffer every single day with anxiety. God does not ever give us a spirit of fear, Satan does that. In a world where whispers can be louder than shouts we still should have nothing to fear. Satan breeds fear with his whispers in our ear and that creates a world of pain.

Earlier this week I watched a YouTube video about the universe and the vibrations within it. Everything has a frequency vibration. Rocks, trees, animals, humans, water, molecules, buildings, everything has a vibration! We are all shaking, we are all moving! The world will tell us we are trembling with fear. Do not believe this lie!

Whatever vibrations we put out we will receive in return. What we plant, we shall harvest. I have seen a few people who have been asking the question, ‘why me? Why does this always happen to me?’ What are you planting? Are you planting negative images in your mind? If that’s what you see, that is what you will get!

U2 once wrote a song, I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For. We live in a world that is constantly seeking peace, love, acceptance, forgiveness. And there are those who say it can be found in Jesus Christ. And then they turn around and condemn the ones who need these things. If we don’t fully turn to The Cross of redemption and grace we never will find what we are looking for. We will never find it in humanity that only seeks for itself preservation. There is no fear or condemnation in Christ Jesus. You want to know how all of our lives would be different without fear? Seek Him. Seek The Prince Of Peace and you shall have no fear.
