Sometimes We Smile.

Sometimes We Smile.

Sometimes the devil whispers in our ear, but we smile anyway.

Sometimes the devil tries to convince us we are not good enough, but we try anyway.

Sometimes the devil whispers to give up and give in, but we fight through anyway.

Sometimes the devil convinces us we are frail and weak, but we fight through our weakness because Jesus is stronger.

When we are weak, Jesus is strong.

When we are unsure, Jesus gives us peace.

When we are at war with others, Jesus whispers turn the other cheek.

When we have been wounded and are frail and weary, Jesus gives us strength.

Seek ye first the kingdom, and even though this life brings pain and frailties and weakness, we can be made strong.

A shepherd slew a giant.

12 fishermen spread the gospel of Jesus Christ worldwide.

A deaf composer composed some of the greatest music we have ever known.

Do not fear frailty! Embrace it and see how The Lord uses you to bless others.

3 Days Of Quotes.

3 Days Of Quotes.

I was recently nominated by specscladeyes to do a 3 days of quotes. I am also supposed to nominate 3 other bloggers to do the same. However, I don’t know of 3 other bloggers who would definitely follow through with this task, so if you wish to join in the fun, please do so. I nominate all who may read this.

We all have our own opinions and it is very rare to find two individuals who agree whole-heartedly on every option of every opinion ever formed by either of them.

You are an original, just like everyone else. That is another quote I find amusing. And they go hand in hand. In my opinion, any way.

We are all originals and no two people will ever look at anything from the exact same viewpoint ever. In order for that to happen two individuals of exactly the same height would have to stand in exactly the same spot in exactly the same position. Physics is trying to work this out through quantum physics, and yes, some particles have been found to do these traits, but humans cannot.

We are each individuals with our own experiences and it is very rare that we believe we are wrong. Enter arguments. Enter reasons for battle. And mostly, enter the male ego! I am a male, so I can say that. You may have a different opinion, and you are wrong! HA!

But seriously, one of the most funny men of comedy said this once and I found it deeply profound, true and most of all, funny. Laugh a little, my friends. Put down the opinions and shake hands, or hug, or just say good job, it’s more hygienic these days. But love each other. We all have opinions and we are never going to agree whole-heartedly on anything in this world until it is proven as fact, like gravity. Drop something from a tall building, it will always fall. We can all be right someday when the world joins together as one humanity. And that will be a glorious day we all agree.

In His Grip

In His Grip

How is the year shaping up for you so far? Have your predictions come true, or did you have to face a curve ball or two?(Thank you, BasicallyBeyondBasic, for the timely prompt suggestions!)

2016 by no stretch of the imagination has been a dream for me, but not really a nightmare either. I have experienced the death of a friend and an infection that I didn’t pay attention to for far too long that meant to take me out. But, God is stronger than any experience that can come against me and His purpose will be fulfilled!

I have learned to not really make solid, set in stone, no exchanges type of plans. Plans never go as we choose. My wedding day, I forgot to get to the courthouse the day before AND the day of to pick up the marriage license!! We are still married almost three years later and we have a funny story. We had planned to arrive in Montana to see my wife’s mom and dad, who has Alzheimer’s and cancer, three days before we actually got here. And now that we are here, we are spending another day here because of a storm rolling through.

A famous musician once wrote, ‘Life is a highway, I wanna ride it all night long.’ The fun part, for me, is we can’t see the entire highway. Part of it may not be there anymore, or it may be detoured because of construction. That means we get to learn a new way to go! You may have travelled that road a time or two, but life will always throw curveballs at us all.

I didn’t plan on my friend dying, I didn’t plan on spending five days in the hospital, but those events happened. 2016 has thrown some curveballs my way, and I am positive more are to come. But with my faith and my God, I know I am “In His Grip” as my brother has always said and I have adopted this saying. He’s got the whole world in His Hands and knows the deepest parts of the journey for each one of us. No, 2016 has not gone as planned, but I know it all has been for a purpose.

Make Opportunities.

Make Opportunities.

Are you comfortable in front of people, or does the idea of public speaking make you want to hide in the bathroom? Why?

Let me take you back in time. Back to a simpler time. The year was 1995. I had just declared my major at Southwest State University as Radio/Television Broadcasting. If you know anything about these professions they require a well practiced speaking voice and the comfort of speaking in front of either large groups of people, or at least knowing that thousands of people may be listening or watching.

My friends at the time always told me that my facial expressions showed that I should have gone deeper into the television side, but I chose radio broadcasting. Along with that major was a minimum of four classes of speech. This did not sit well with my stomach at first. Even a class of twelve people made my stomach tie in knots and my anxiety go through the roof!! It should come as no surprise that I dropped out of the major, and the school in 1996. I just wasn’t ready and I had just married, so it was time to become a family man and take care of my bride.

Life is what happens when you are busy making other plans and sometimes it circles back around on you. After my marriage split in 1997 I worked for a year in the town we lived in and where I had gone to college. Enough was enough! I needed new scenery!

So, in June of 1998 I moved to the Twin Cities to pursue a degree in Radio Broadcasting. Still wasn’t ready! Public speaking still made me so nervous and it was decided I needed to leave the school for health reasons.

Fast forward to 2002. Another opportunity for Radio Broadcasting from Brown College came about. The best opportunities keep on knocking, don’t they? Finally ready to go to school and complete it, but there was TWO PUBLIC SPEAKING CLASSES PER QUARTER!!! Yes, the butterflies in the stomach, red face, and absolute stuttering nervousness was there when I began my classes in 2002– for about a week!

I had a professor who had serious faith in my abilities, I had a few professors who actually believed in me. And they all helped me get over my fear of public speaking. They knew that my abilities to speak and influence others through the medium of radio could be life-changing, for me and the world!

They told me the key was to speak as often as possible, no matter how many people were listening. I began singing and talking in the car, I began singing karaoke, I began having conversations with strangers. Low and behold, the next week I got up to present my speech and no nerves! Practice makes perfect. My advice is anything you wish to do well, make opportunities to practice it.

The Power Of Prayer.

The Power Of Prayer.

Tell us about a book you can read again and again without getting bored — what is it that speaks to you?

If you have paid any attention to my blog you already know how important my relationship with Jesus Christ and His life lessons and principals is. He taught us how we communicate directly with God through prayer and one of the best books I have ever read and have now read through twice and I am reading a third time is The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson.

We are surrounded by walls in this life. Walls meant to keep us out. Walls meant to test our resolve to tear them down. And even invisible walls that don’t even exist that we create within our own minds. The human life is full of real and imaginary barriers. This book talks about how to tear them down through prayer.

I would recommend this book to anyone. If you want to strengthen your already existing prayer life, this book is for you. If you don’t believe in the absolute paranormal power of prayer, this book is for you. If you have tried prayer and don’t believe because you haven’t received the answers to prayer you thought you should, this book is for you! Everyone who believes or doesn’t believe needs to read this book! There is power in prayer and this book gives true testimony to its power and real life applications.

Aside from my Bible and daily devotional book, The Circle Maker is a book I can read over and over to help renew my faith in the power of God and constant communication with Him. I would recommend picking up a copy anywhere you can.

Inspiration IS All Around Us!!!

Inspiration IS All Around Us!!!

I have recently become a huge fan of Bob Proctor. He was involved in the film The Secret and he has a Facebook page that talks about all sorts of ways to reach our full potential even though we truly have no idea what that even is yet!!

I just finished watching one of these videos and I had to chuckle because there is a lady in this promotional video for a movie coming out and she is talking about potential and she brings up the old saying, the sky’s the limit!! Folks, if your dreams, your goals, your aspirations are only reaching sky level, YOU ARE NOT GOING FAR ENOUGH!!!!!

As soon as you leave Earth’s atmosphere, the sky disappears. You are now entering the inner part of outer space. Like the character in  Armegeddon says, ‘This is only the beginning of space! We haven’t even reached OUTER SPACE yet!!’

So my challenge for you today is, don’t reach for the sky, don’t reach for the stars, reach for somewhere or something that hasn’t even been discovered yet!! The only way to find something new is to move as far away from what you already know as possible.

I have no idea why this post hit my heart, but I pray right now, in Jesus’ Name that whomever needs to read this finds their way to this post. Please, if you feel someone needs to reach beyond where they think they can and you feel this message will inspire that, please share this post. I love you all! We are all meant to go further than we have. Reach for places not even discovered yet and you will find a creator willing to guide you.

Where Is God?

Where Is God?

We all experience pain. We all experience hardships. Sometimes they come at us in wave after wave. Just because we make it through one or two waves doesn’t mean the storm will pass.

In these times the human mind has a hard time seeing the good in a situation. We lose family members through death, disease and divorce. We can lose our homes in a fire or a storm. We can go into work one day and find out we are no longer needed by the company. These and so many other scenarios happen to thousands of people every year. And often times they look to the sky and ask, ‘Where was God?!!’ Sometimes we lose our faith because we don’t see an immediate solution. But I ask you, What if YOU are that solution?

God doesn’t always come through in a burning bush or His Son, Jesus Christ. No. These days He may use you, He may use me. Maybe He is using me right now!! Maybe He is using you right now!!

If there is someone asking the question in a hard time right now, ‘Where is God?’, look around you. You see that neighbor bringing you a hot meal? That is God. You see that city worker helping with the clean up after a natural disaster? That is God. You see that trusted friend being a confidant and friend during a death or divorce? That is God.

He is all around us and asking us to be His Hands and Feet all over the world around us, but too many people are too busy to listen. Do I have your attention now? Are you listening now?! It is up to each one of us to use our talents for others, to help the world that no longer believes see God!!! What can you do? The answer to that is as simple as what are you good at? That is where God wants you to help an unbelieving world!! And when you do, GIVE THE CREDIT AND THE GLORY TO HIM!!!!

Where was or is God? He is within each and every one of us if we are willing to listen. Be blessed tonight and be a blessing to someone else tonight.
